I’m single once again, so it looks like I’ll have much more time for training and blogging. My life will once again be defined by my involvement in jiu jitsu.
Here’s a picture of my cat for you. It may or may not reflect my current emotional state:
How are you guys doing? Training often?
Uh oh, somebody got a lion cut! Was she starting to get matted?
I have partial custody of a big Maine Coon mix who would seriously commit suicide if we did that to him.
She was SO FULL OF MATS. Ridiculous. I got tired of trying to brush them out and having her hate me. Figured I’d let all the hate be released at once.
Yeah, if they’re prone to matting and don’t like being brushed, I think that’s the least traumatic option. It can cause all kinds of skin problems if you leave the mats.
It sounds like you could use a little happy news, so here goes:
After nearly two years of not being able to find a BJJ gym that I’d really want to train in (that I could afford), I just signed up for a gym that’s right down the street from me. Yours has been one of the few BJJ blogs I’ve followed through my “period of darkness” and I don’t know how to express how good it felt to get back on the mat again.
I just thought I’d share that little spot of happiness on one of my favorite little slices of internet in existence, so you’d better keep posting awesomeness regularly. I’m counting on you.
I’m so glad to hear it! I have some “lady posts” coming up, so hopefully you’ll cherry pick what you read ^_^.
Jiu Jitsu is my boyfriend again, so I need to rededicate myself to it and my blog. ^_^
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Know what I’d love to see? I’d love to see some posts about making gyms more approachable/appealing for women. I find that women who actually make it in the door tend to stay, but there seems to be a big psychological barrier to entry that I can’t nail down. I love having women to roll with (they tend to be closer to my size, and have those crazy-flexible-hips), but all the gyms I’ve been to either don’t have any women, or are completely male-dominated.
lol, I love the furry bootie look! I’m training lots, fighting to shed pounds I gained over winter/flu season.
I totally hear you. I’m back to where I was at the start of last semester – all that 20 weeks was, well, it wasn’t for nothing – that’s ridiculous. It was an awesome willpower exercise. But I am back to the 160 range. Gah. I’m back on my regular eating plan, though, so it should hopefully come off sooner rather than later.
Wow. That stare is intense. What’s outside the frame that we can’t see? A levitating millenium falcon? A Korean war eagle writhing on the ground, burned out of the sky by superconcentrated cat-malice? A petrified cat groomer? Argus Filch?
Dobby. My cat hates house elves.
Of course. He probably tried to take kitty’s socks.
