Here are GORGEOUS photos from my match at the 5th Korea Open Jiu Jitsu Tournament. Photos by Song Kwang-Bin, publisher of blackbelt.kr, who kindly sent them to me. THANK YOU Mr Song! I love them. It takes my 1:15 match and shows exactly what happened.
My fake-down attempt (ie. not really a take-down attempt)
She got on top immediately and passed my guard with no problem
Establishing more dominance and isolating my arm
I tried to defend, but alas I was already in a sucky position
And my feet are flying off the mat
But I tried to keep things tight so she couldn’t get over
Which she did, and my arm was exposed
I was trying to pull my arm out of her grip
She successfully isolated my top arm
I valiantly was attempting to go inverted (I think)
It was super fast and faster than I could react
Again – looks like “Hey why don’t you escape” but this was a fraction of a second
Grabbing the armbar and pushing up her hips
It was tight on my arm
As you can see I was terribly disappointing
Victory hug. I was so excited. She was just flat out better than me
I had such an awesome time
I don’t have amazing pictures from the gi match, but this was awesome. I’ve never had such nice pictures taken of my grappling.
My experience was positive enough that I decided to sign up for the Asia Open in Tokyo next month! I already bought my plane ticket! Woot!
