5/21 Improvements from BJJ: Healthy Lifestyle

My life for several years involved eating things that were convenient, going to work, drinking a lot of calories, eating a lot of snacks, hanging out with friends and playing games while eating pizza, drinking soda, eating chips, etc. Everything in my life supported an unhealthy lifestyle – I set up this life and lived comfortably in it.

Jiu jitsu was the first time I’d surrounded myself with very healthy folks. From online forums to people I knew in real life, I kept hearing about paleo, cutting weight, eating right, etc. For me, it helped support my new life. In the past year, alongside BJJ, I started adding more mindful aspects – spending time reading, enjoying the moment, exercising, meditation, etc. I currently set up a very healthy lifestyle – one that I’m terribly proud of. I think a lot of it was just awareness – and jiu jitsu was originally at the heart of it. It was like a seed planted in my life and all these extra bits are the roots spreading through me.
