Pop Quiz: Why has Jiu Jiu stopped blogging?
A. She was on a massive vacation and never quite recovered.
B. She got super lazy.
C. She got engaged and has been thinking about marriage stuff.
D. She kept getting more embarrassed about not writing, then it made her not write, and then she got more embarrassed because of that…and the cycle continued.
E. All of the above.
If you answered E, you are correct!
After a huge, two month vacation, I finally arrived back in Seoul. It was a whirlwind. I did jiu jitsu fairly consistently – about 3 times per week. I also visited Tacoma, Washington; Washington, D.C.; Williamsburg, VA; Raleigh, GA; and Lafayette, CO.
Also, I got engaged!
I’m trying to get things back on track now, but it’s sort of like taking a break from jiu jitsu – the longer you’re away, the harder it is to get back into it.
Speaking of – I ended up taking about two weeks off after arriving back in Seoul. Yesterday was my first time back in regular class. I ended up with a jammed pinky, bruised legs, and waffle face from someone’s whole bodyweight pressing their gi onto my face. Oh, and I almost panic tapped from sweaty gi in my face. Sigh.
I think the big takeaway here is that motivation gets you in the door to jiu jitsu class, and it gets you blogging, then habit is what keeps you there – and when the habit stops, you start feeling that dreadful “where is my motivaaaaaation” whiny feeling.
So, for all you folks out there who have been on a blogging or jiu jitsu hiatus – come back with me into the light! (and help push me to keep going!). Also, YAY! I’m getting married! And dear god – I’m moving out of this country and back to America. I’m going to anticipate some Big Stress in the near future.
In any case – HELLO EVERYONE!
