I would be remiss if I did not mention the crazy popular song Gangnam Style by PSY. Wait – you haven’t been infected by it yet? You don’t know what I’m talking about? Here it is:

I had to mention this song because NOT ONLY am I in Korea, but I live and do jiu jitsu only one metro stop away from THE Gangnam! In fact, I can walk there! At my gym every day we’ve really gotten into the Gangnam Style routine.
It’s easy! Here’s how you do it:
This is so easy to incorporate into your Jiu Jitsu gym routine. Do what we in Korea do: rather than run, we now gallop:
We work on back strengthening exercises while our instructor does a running man:
For coordination we work on this move with our partners:
Instead of saying “osssss” we say:
Dear lord, you do realize I was joking, right? This has NOT infected our gym, despite us being in Gangnam Style territory, but when I went out to noraebang (Korean karaoke) my Korean friend not only sang it, but did the horsey dance. Honestly, I don’t really get it and find it annoying, but it’s slowly growing on me, a bit like Napoleon Dynamyte did.
However, I do need to issue this warning, because even if you dislike Gangnam Style absolutely, you must be aware:
