Fitocracy

I will be posting a review later, but suffice it to say it has me constantly thinking about fitness.

First I posted my article about Geeks & Fitness, then I read an awesome article on CNN called Why Gamers are a Great Fit at the Gym. In it, it mentioned a website called Fitocracy.

Fitocracy turns exercise into a game. You get xp every time you log exercises. Do a BJJ class, earn massive amounts of xp. Do weight lifting, earn massive amounts of xp. For those of us without the ability to claim loads of xp in this way, I’m going the sloooow route. I have to do things like: crunches, pushups, leg lifts and running, which means as far as xp goes, I’m a hardgainer ;) . You can do quests and gain achievements, and if you pay for an account (like me!) you earn a “Hero” status. Mwa ha ha. Little do they realize…

If you’re a BJJ blogger and you want to try out Fitocracy, we have an invite code for you. You will automatically be added to the group “BJJ bloggers” and you can start logging your exercises. Click here to join! http://ftcy.co/v0QhoE

Feel free to spread this around the BJJ bloggers community! My username on there is JiuJiu!

Are YOU doing Fitocracy?

I’ve just created an account on http://www.fitocracy.com/home/ , but am finding it rather hard to get used to. I’ve been using http://www.konkura.com for the last 6 months, but heard Fitocracy is a step up. Can anyone tell me the benefits it has over a site like konkura.com?

    • I posted this comment in a blog post but haven’t really heard back. I personally love Fitocracy – I love the supportive community, the gaming aspect with the quests and the badges, and I love getting XP! :)
